This resource will encourage and support the emergence of new self-advocacy groups in Ireland.
It will also enhance the capacity of existing self-advocacy groups through information provision, sharing of resources and networking opportunities.
SARU will include a self-advocacy toolkit which will include information on how to run a good self-advocacy meeting, how to create a vision statement and put in place a code of practice.
In addition to this, detailed information will be provided on self-advocacy groups in Ireland via Google maps.
There will be a comprehensive self-advocacy news and updates section with information on the latest news from the self-advocacy movement.
The news section will include editions of the new Inclusion Ireland self-advocacy newsletter and other newsletters from The Riot, Sparks and Inclusion Europe.
There will also be information on making information accessible such as guidelines on easy to read and Plain English as well as helpful links to others networks in Ireland including the Connect People Network, the National Advocacy Service and Mencap.
SARU will cover events such as Inclusion Ireland’s marking of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and National Platform meetings.
